The department of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, together with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has announced on 28 October 2021 that the applications for funding for the academic year 2022 are opening from 2 November 2021 until 7 January 2022.
The minister of Higher Education, Dr Blade Nzimande said to apply, people should go to the website. The application is open to everyone and has no age limit. Applicants are reminded to keep their personal details like ID numbers, myNSFAuS account log-in details, and income information safe and not share them with anyone.
Minister Nzimande said, “NSFAS has improved its system and most of the applicants will now know as soon as they apply whether they qualify or not.
“That is the new addition and it will not be everybody but it will be the majority of the applicants.
“Applicants will get funding if they are accepted in public universities and colleges. Minister Nzimande also said the correct supporting documents are important in ensuring that NSFAS processes funding applications on time.
