The African National Congress (ANC), remains the governing party in Hammanskraal after winning all nine wards during the local government elections last week.
Despite the low voter turnout, the ANC prevailed in 70 wards in Tshwane.
ANCYL Tshwane Regional Coordinator, Mr Fortune Mathabathe, said the ANC in 2016 had 68 wards and in this year’s elections it gained two more wards from the DA with 70 wards.
“The ANC has a solid track record of governing and that is why our people keep affirming us in every election. Coming out of this election we understand that we need to deliver more quality services to our people and also devise a system that will enable us to bring our people out in large numbers on the next voting day,” he said.
Attempts to get comments from Action SA’s Abel Tau who campaigned for Mayor of Tshwane and also hoped to mobilize votes from Hammanskraal were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
