Members of the ‘crime prevention received information about a rifle hidden in the bushes of Stinkwater north of Tshwane at around 22:00 and they swiftly followed the knowledge which lead to the discovery of that firearm and ammunition inside a bag.
Sergeant Herman Moremi of Corporate Communication Temba SAPS said an AK 47 with two magazines and 60 live ammunition was found. At this stage, no suspect was arrested and police are investigating further to determine how the firearm ended up in the area and whether it was involved in the commission of a crime.
The station Commander Brigadier Johannes Tau applauded members who recovered the firearm on time. He said it is scary to realize that this kind of rifle is already in our area and this puts our community in danger. He urged the community to continue working with the police and give any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
