SAPS hosts GBVF dialogue in Temba

The Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Samuel Thine, Station Commander of Temba, Brigadier Tau, and Station Commander of Hamanskraal, Lt Col Mokwana hosted the Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) dialogue in Temba at Sebothoma Hall on 21 October 2022.

Captain Augustinah Selepe said the event was supported by various stakeholders such as the Department of Community Safety, Department of Correctional Service, Department of Social Development, Department of Health, Department of Justice, Mabopane/ Winterveld office of Kekana Royal Executive Council (Traditional Leaders Council), Vuka Enough, Avbob, CPF, FCS units.

She said the program was necessitated by the widespread cases of gender-based violence against children and women in Temba and surrounding communities.

“This initiative will continue throughout the district to end gender-based violence in our homes, communities, churches, schools, on our streets, and in our villages,” she said.

The dialogue presented an opportunity for Stakeholders and the Community to build knowledge and raise awareness towards ending violence against all women, children and men.

Brigadier Thine said “Gender-based violence (GBV) is a profound and widespread problem in the community.

“GBV affecting on almost every aspect of life, which mostly affects women and girls. SAPS will continue to prioritize the safety of women and children at all times,” he said.
