HTC Dominates Gauteng Woman in Sports Awards and Excels in Rising Stars Provincial Finals
The Hammanskraal Tennis Club (HTC) had an extraordinary weekend, as they claimed top honours at the prestigious Gauteng Woman in Sports Awards and showcased their talent in the Rising Stars Provincial Finals. The club’s achievements have brought immense pride to the Hammanskraal community.
At the Gauteng Woman in Sports Awards, HTC stole the show by clinching multiple accolades. They were recognized as the “2023 Project of the Year,” a testament to their dedication and impactful initiatives. Coach and club Deputy Chairperson, Mpho Makhoba was honoured as the “2023 Technical Official of the Year,” highlighting her exceptional leadership and expertise.
The club’s remarkable achievements did not stop there. HTC’s athletes also made their mark in various categories. Winnie Masemola and Keotshepile Ntlatleng were finalists for “School Sports of the Year,” showcasing their remarkable talent and commitment. Coach Mpho Makhoba was also acknowledged as the “Volunteer of the Year” for her selfless contributions to the club and the community.
In addition to their success at the awards, HTC’s rising stars demonstrated their prowess at the Rising Stars Provincial Finals. The HTC Gunners secured an impressive second-place finish, with Team Manager Lucas Chauke leading the way. Players Unathi Gabelane, Karabo Lepekola, Atlegang Mokwatlo, and Tshenolo Letsapa showcased exceptional skills, cementing the club’s reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
HTC, “Re Tshela Thupa,” claimed a respectable third-place finish under the guidance of Team Manager Tshepiso Mooka. Players Bokang Phahlamohlaka, Kganya Lepekola, and Jayson Maxson displayed remarkable talent and determination. Though Koketso Lephotho was absent, her contribution to the team’s success cannot be overlooked.
The girls’ teams also displayed their mettle, securing a commendable fourth-place finish. Under the guidance of Coach Refilwe Modiba, players Onkagile Sefolo, Bokamoso Malapane, and Botshelo Malapane exhibited exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
