Angelina Sekonyela, a 28-year-old teacher and philanthropist from Vastfontein, an underserved area in Hamanskraal, has been crowned Mrs. Remarkable South Africa. This award recognizes her outstanding contributions to her community and her tireless efforts to positively impact the lives of those around her.
In an exclusive interview with Moretele Times, Angelina shared her thoughts on her journey to becoming Mrs. Remarkable South Africa. “I decided to participate in this pageant because it resonated with my values of beauty with a purpose,” she said. “I wanted to use this platform to make a difference in my community and every space I entered.”
Angelina’s commitment to empowering her community is evident in her various initiatives, including her work with Batho Pele Christian School, where she teaches and has launched a fundraising effort to support learners with school fees, uniforms, and sanitary towels.
When asked about her biggest supporters, Angelina credited her family and friends, who voted for her and pushed her to see the journey through. “My partner, Itumeleng, was always there to support me, ensuring I showed up at every red carpet event and charity function,” she said.
As Mrs. Remarkable South Africa, Angelina plans to continue making a difference in her community. She hopes to host an award ceremony for young township learners, recognizing their hard work and encouraging them to keep pushing. She also plans to continue working with her netball club, which she founded in her community, and forming a sisterhood amongst the players.
Angelina’s message to those who aspire to make a difference is simple yet profound: “Be intentional, know why you’re entering, be respectful, stand out, and be your authentic self. Start where you are, with what you have, and God will meet you halfway.”
As Mrs. Remarkable South Africa, Angelina Sekonyela inspires many, and her journey is a testament to the power of dedication, hard work, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
