The Hammanskraal Tennis Club Awards ceremony, held at Sebothoma Hall in Temba on December 22, 2024, was a resounding success. The tennis community came together to recognize and celebrate the achievements of its talented players, dedicated supporters, and hardworking administrators.
The awards ceremony, attended by players, coaches, parents, and officials, saw 25 awards presented across various categories.
In the newcomer categories, Kgaogelo Rakgantsho and Oratile Chauke were crowned Female and Male Newcomers of the Year, respectively. Onalenna Noko and Tshenolo Letsapa Unathi Gabelane won the Most Improved Female and Male Player of the Year awards.
The School Competition Player of the Year award went to That’s Seriti, while HTC Re Tshela Thupa and HTC Gunners Girls were named Male and Female Teams of the Year, respectively.
Lucas Chauke was recognized as the Most Committed Player of the Year, with Koketso Lephotho being named Team Player of the Year. Bokamoso Malapane Botshelo Malapane and Kgosietsile Kutumela were voted Female and Male Players’ Player of the Year, respectively.
In the academic achievement categories, Ororiseng Sibanyoni and Khanyisile Nkafu were named High School and Primary School Top Academic Achievers of the Year.
Selina Noko was honored as Parent of the Year, with Simon Tlhatlha and Doris Makgatho being recognized as Club Fan and Club Supporter of the Year, respectively. Mpho Makhoba was named Administrator of the Year.
In the premier categories, Onkagile Sefolo and Tshenolo Letsapa were crowned Female and Male Players of the Year, respectively.
The ceremony also saw the presentation of Special Recognition Awards to Simon Tlhatlha, Selina Noko, City of Tshwane (Region 2), Rethusagetse Foundation, Moretele Times, Lombard Kutumela, and Mpho Makhoba for their outstanding contributions to the sport.
Ms. Mpho Makhoba, who led the organizing of the Awards, congratulated all the winners and nominees on their achievements and said the Hammanskraal Tennis Awards ceremony was a testament to tennis’s growth and development in the region and the commitment of its players, officials, and supporters to promoting the sport.
