Tshwane-Vastfontein — Angie, a 29-year-old teacher at Batho Pele Christian School, is making waves in her community as a semi-finalist for Mrs Township South Africa. With a deep commitment to education and youth empowerment, she is dedicated to uplifting the next generation in her township.

Believing firmly in the words of Nelson Mandela that “Education is the key to success,” Angie has taken significant steps to ensure that children in her community have the support they need to thrive. She has launched an after-care program that provides homework assistance and extra classes on weekends, helping students excel in their studies.

“Education is not just about passing grades; it’s about equipping our youth with the tools they need to succeed in life,” Angie stated. Her program aims to promote academic achievement and instill a sense of confidence in young learners.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Angie advocates for youth development, focusing on empowering young people in townships to navigate their post-school opportunities. She offers guidance on university and college applications, introduces students to gap programs, and connects them with resources that can help them build successful futures.

“Many of our youth face challenges that can seem overwhelming,” she explained. “I want to be a guiding light for them, helping them understand their potential and the paths available to them.”

Through her platform as a Mrs Township South Africa semi-finalist, Angie aims to amplify her impact, inspiring others in her community to engage in similar initiatives. Her guiding philosophy reflects her approach to life: “When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. When life is bitter, say thank you and grow.”

Angie’s efforts have already begun to bear fruit, as she witnesses firsthand the transformation in her students. “Seeing their confidence grow and their dreams take shape is the most rewarding part of my work,” she said.

She said that as she continues her journey, she remains committed to empowering young people and creating a brighter future for her community.
