Family, friends, neighbours and community members gathered today, 23 August 2026, to bid farewell to Mr Ramoabi Keoagile Johannes “Shima” Setshedi, who was laid to rest at the Bosplaas Cemetery following a funeral service held in his honour.
Mr Setshedi passed away on 18 August 2026 at the age of 60, leaving behind a legacy mourners remember for love, wisdom, service, laughter, and generosity.
The funeral programme described him as a man who shared his knowledge and passion for education as an ABET tutor at Madisong, helping others gain skills and opportunities through learning. His commitment to education was remembered as one of the ways he contributed meaningfully to others’ lives.
According to the funeral tribute, Mr Setshedi was born on 18 June 1966 in Temba, Gauteing, to the late Mr Moseleke Andries Setshedi and Ms Anna Makapulwe Setshedi. He grew up in a loving family and was survived by his siblings, relatives and community members who knew and loved him.
His education journey began at Leboneng Primary School, continued at Kgetse-Ya-Tsie, and later took him to Nchaupe Secondary School, where he completed Form 4 in 1984 and Form 5 in 1985. He furthered his knowledge at Taung Agricultural School in 1986, registered with UNISA to pursue an ABET certificate, and reflected a dedication to lifelong learning.
Mourners described Mr Setshedi as a person whose presence brought warmth, comfort and strength. The family also expressed appreciation to all who supported them during their time of bereavement.
“The family of Ramoabi ‘Shima’ Setshedi deeply appreciate your presence, prayers and support during this time of bereavement. Your kindness brings comfort and strength,” the family said in the funeral programme.
As he was laid to rest today, the mood was one of sorrow, remembrance and gratitude for a life that touched many.
Mr Setshedi’s passing has left a deep void in the lives of his loved ones, but his memory will continue to live on through the people he taught, encouraged and supported.
