President Zuma ask General Phiyega to give reasons why he should not suspend her

Riah PhiyegaPresident Jacob Zuma has written to the National Police Commissioner, General Victoria Phiyega, today 21/08/2015 to informing her of his intention to institute an enquiry into the allegations of misconduct or lack of fitness for the office that she occupies and or her ability to execute her duties efficiently with regard thereto, or any other conduct which may have a bearing on her position as Head of the Police Service.
The President has also afforded General Phiyega (pictured) an opportunity to make written representations to him as to why she should not be placed on suspension pending the outcome of the enquiry.
Spokesperson for the Presidency, Mr Bongani Majola, said this follows the President having received and considered the Report of Judge Farlam pertaining to the Marikana Commission of Inquiry and also having received the comments of General Phiyega on the recommendations and findings contained therein.
