Residents of Temba in Hammanskraal spent the past weekend without water, and worse, without electricity that went off from 2:00 am yesterday until 2:00 pm.
Residents expressed disappointment stating that this demonstrates absolute disrespect of citizens by the City of Tshwane. Others complained about lack of courtesy by the City to at least keep residents informed about the crisis and developments.
Sources in Temba said this situation would not be happen if it was happening elsewhere in Pretoria, “but in Temba it is acceptable that we can spend the whole weekend, from Friday, without water resulting in intolerable sanitation, imagine what the situation in our toilets is”.
City of Tshwane posted on their official Facebook page on Sunday after being contacted by Moretele Times that residents of Temba and Hammanskraal should please note that water tankers are distributing water to existing 5 000 tanks in the area. A water tanker is also at Jubilee Mall. The City said problems are experienced due to heavy rains and sludge causing filters to clog. Teams are working non-stop to resolve issue.
