Hammanskraal Jubilee District Hospital in partnership with Standard Bank welcomed spring season in style by hosting an event themed, Health is wealth, for the female staff members today.
The event was also used to celebrate Woman’s Month as they could not do so during August.
Board Member at Jubilee Hospital, who was a speaker at the event, Ms Catherine Mushi, said a group of professionals from Hammanskraal calling themselves, Friends of Jubilee, identified a need to organise sponsorship as part of giving back to the community to assist female staff members at the hospital to live healthy life styles.

“We formed this group to identify challenges faced by the hospital and this time around we targeted health awareness for female staff members. With the theme, Health is Wealth, we aim to send a message to female staff that wealth is not only about finances, but also about investing in a healthy lifestyle so that they can serve well.
“We encourage female staff to eat well, test for all woman related diseases and practice the principle of prevention before cure,” said Ms Mushi.
Sister Thoko Masita, of Jubilee Hospital also emphasized avoiding diseases.
“Most of our female staff are reluctant to do random check-ups for diseases such as breast cancer because they prefer not to know. We want a paradigm shift to understanding the importance of keeping a wealthy health so that they can be energetic physically and mentally, “she said.

The Standard Bank team made a presentation on financial wellness to alleviate stress and anxiety.
CEO of Jubilee Hospital, Ms Damaria Magano, thanked all stakeholders who made the event possible because in most cases the hospital would not have enough budget to conduct such events.
She thanked Friends of Jubilee Hospital and Standard Bank for honouring the women of Jubilee Hospital with an event of such high standards and further encouraged the women to heed the call and practice what they have learned from the event.
