Little Lesego was buried on Thursday

The Majaneng disabled twin that Moretele Times reported on extensively and mobilised donors to assist the family has passed away. The 10-year-old Lesego Mokobane was laid to rest last Thursday in Majaneng at a funeral attended by mourners from the village who gave young Lesego a heart-warming send off.

The Majaneng twins, Lesego and Ofentse were born with Cerebral Palsy and needed help as their Grandparents could not afford to maintain their high demanding special care.

Young Lesego was completely disabled and could not do anything for himself while his brother, Ofentse’s condition is better as he can walk, talk and play around with other kids.

After Moretele Times published the article about their difficulties, South Africans as far as Johannesburg opened their hearts to the twins and the family was assisted with donations of groceries and clothes.

Recently a new wheelchair was acquired for Lesego from the local clinic and a company dealing with occupational safety products for the disabled, Shonaquip, provided cushioning for the wheelchair to make life better for Lesego.

Speakers at the funeral described Lesego as a strong character who never allowed his condition to stop him from sharing a smile when people visited his family.

Most of the donors who could not make it to the funeral sent in messages of condolences that were read at the funeral.

Ms Kimberly Budge who orchestrated the intervention of Shonaquip and Ruth Stubbs who is a long standing practitioner in helping children with Cerebral Palsy, sent messages to thank everyone who played a part in making the last few months of Lesego special.

The family thanked Moretele Times for making their story known to the world and also thanked everyone who played a part in helping the twins live a better life.
