Ramotse My Home Foundation (RMFH) celebrated Mandela Day on the 23rd July at Kgweteke Centre with Senior Citizens.

“Our initial plan was providing food parcels to the 20 identified families in Ramotse but due to lack of sponsor we couldn’t do that”-said PRO of RMFH Amaleah Mbewe.RMHF2
However the lack of sponsorship didn’t stop them from giving back to the community. They visited one of the old age centres in the home of Ramotse, where they cleaned the centre and helped them pack their materials.
18 July 2016 wasn’t just marked as Mandela Day to the organisation, they were also celebrating their first year since the organisation started with projects of giving back to the community.
“Since Mandela day is also a day were the organisation started its first projects, we thought that we could celebrate by going to spend a day with our grandparent in a productive way”
RMHF was formed on the 2nd June 2015 and their first project started on Mandela Day 18th July 2015.
The kgweteke centre senior citizens appreciated the time RMFH took to come and clean their home for them.
“We are very happy that they took a step forward to come and help us clean the areas that we couldn’t reach as elderly people” said the chairperson of Kgweteke centre Francinah Raphuthi

Lending hand to the Kgweteke centre wasn’t the only thing the organisation could offer. They also had a cake cutting and shared the moment with the senior citizens at the centre.
“The cake was there to celebrate our one year anniversary and it was so great to celebrate this day with our grandparents and we will continue to look after them,” said Ms Mbewe.
