The City of Tshwane’s Utility Services Department has rescheduled the 3 days’ water supply interruption in Temba to 27 until 29 November 2018 at 08:00.
This essential work which was initially scheduled for 20 November up to Thursday – 22 November 2018, had to be put on hold due to an unforeseen leakage encountered during the commencement of the tie-in connection work onsite.
The planned work entails the shutting-down of the Temba Water Purification Plant in order to carry out a new pipeline to an existing one as well as a tie-in of two air valves on the Sekampaneng pipeline.
The affected areas alongside Temba are Dilopye, New Eersterus, Babelegi Industries, Marokolong, Ramotse, Majaneng, Mandela Village, Sekampaneng and Hammanskraal.
Lindela Mashigo, Director: Media Relations at the City of Tswhane, said as in the case of maintenance and upgrading work, the re-routing is expected to lessen unplanned maintenance, limit possible pipe burst and improve water supply in the area. It will also reduce constant major repairs that results in water interruption and reduce areas that will be affected with no water when there is a major pipe burst.
“Roaming water tankers are arranged to supply the residents in the affected areas with water during the shutdown,” Mr Mashigo said.
