A 36-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon at around 15:00 at Bosplaas for possession of dagga.
The police were on patrol when they received a tip-off about a motorbike transporting drugs. They sported the suspect at Temba and when they stopped him, he got away on high speed. The police called for assistance from other sector vehicles that responded and blocked the road at Bosplaas.
Constable Herman Moremi of Corporate Communications at SAPS Temba said the suspect was surprised to see police at the crossroad next to Bosplaas filling station who ordered him to stop.
“They searched him and the bike and they found six bricks of dagga rapped in brown cover and other small balls wrapped in plastics, they also found an amount of R20 000 cash which is believed was collected from different areas,” he said.
Constable Moremi said the suspect was arrested immediately and will face charges of possession of dagga and will appear at Moretele Magistrate Court on Monday.
The station Commander of Temba SAPS, Brigadier Martha Mokobori, applauded the members for the success and said it shows commitment and dedication.
Referring to another 31-year-old man who was arrested at his house at Dan House Village for possession of copper cables, the station commander said “already two men were arrested only by following a tip-off,. We encourage the community to continue working hand in hand with the police to fight crime,” she said.
