Ms Joan Malefula Kgapola, known as Ausi Meisie Kgapola, was buried today in Temba. Ausi Meisie was born on 06 October 1938 in Majaneng. She was the sixth child of the late Reverend NE Masoga and attended her primary school at Kekana Public School. She proceeded to A.M.E Lady Selborne High School until 1955.
At the time of her death, she was married to Mr Alex Tsolane Kgaphola whom she married on 6 June 1964. They were blessed with three children, Ivy, Thabiso and Tebogo “Robie” Kgaphola.
She trained as a nurse at Donald Fraser in Venda and furthered her career at Jubilee Mission Hospital, now known as Jubilee District Hospital.
As a nurse, Ausi Meisie served the community of Hammanskraal from 1975 until 2003 when she retired.
She leaves behind her brother Jaco and two sisters, Ntsele and Mpore, husband Alex and daughter Ivy and son Thabiso. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Keamogetsoe, Neo, Moagi, Didintle and Reshoketsoe, Reshoketsoere Kgosi including her great-grandchildren Umpha and Ompfa.
The memorial service was held at St John Anglican Church with Holy Mass and tributes by family and friends and her remains were laid to rest at Temba Cemetery.
