All the bus drivers of Tshwane Bus Services are back at work with full services of busses from today 19 August 2015.
The bus drivers went on strike on Monday 17 August 2015 demonstrating against the introduction of a new shift schedule. Tshwane Media Relations Director, Mr Lindela Mashigo, said the management of Tshwane Bus Services resolved that the drivers should be back at work. “This has been in effect since this morning and we had a full service of busses. All drivers resumed work today,” he said. The Tshwane Bus Services management said on Monday they were taken by surprise when the SAMWU affiliated drivers abandoned their shifts. This resulted in the interruption of bus services to the Tshwane commuters. Mr Mashigo said the work stoppage led to numerous routes been adversely affected. On Monday commuters were advised to make use of the alternative modes of transport as there was no guarantee of services in all routes. The City of Tshwane apologised for inconveniences caused.
