The community of Kekana in Hammanskraal stormed the Temba Police Station of Friday afternoon 07/28/2017 demanding that the man accused of brutally murdering Tumelo Vincent Nkale, be released into their hands.
The police refused to release the man who is known as Mphamo, and whose real name is known to Moretele Times, requesting the community to allow the law to be followed.
The suspect was arrested in Soshanguve after the community got a tip off that he was hiding in Soshanguve.
In the afternoon, the community together with the police went on a search to Soshanguve where a community member pointed the suspect out as he was leaving the Plaza Shopping Complex.
The suspect was arrested with a friend who was with him at the time and they were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Temba Police General Major Ketlareng Mohajane, promised the community that the case of the suspect will be dealt with by her office directly to ensure that the suspects faces the full might of the law.
“We demanded that the suspect be arrested before the funeral of the late, Tumelo Nkale, that has happened, let us have the trust that going forward, the law will be applied,” said a community member addressing the community.
Community members agreed to disperse after they were assured by the police and community leaders that the suspect was in custody and he will face the full might of the law.
The suspect has managed to give the police and members of the community the slip for the whole week.
The Kekana community on Monday marched to Hammanskraal Police Station demanding that the suspect be arrested before Friday (today) before the deceased is buried tomorrow.
Two houses belonging to the suspect’s mother and aunt were burnt down in Kekana gardens after the community accused the family of supporting the suspect’s criminal activities.
A source in the community said the accused is suspected of a string of murders and every time he is arrested, he does not spend time in jail because his family allegedly bails him out.
