Tshwane north cluster long serving police officers were honoured for remaining loyal and faithful to the police force at the medal parade awards held at the Hammanskraal police academy on Monday 27 February 2018.
The long serving members received medals for serving in the South African Police Services with those with 20 years of service receiving the Loyal Service Medal. The Faithful Srvice Medals were awarded to those completing 30 years and the Centenary Medal to officers with 37 years’ service.
The ceremony was attended by the Tshwane North cluster commander, Major-General Hilda Mohajane and the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Mrs Deliwe De Lange.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Provincial Commissioner took time to thank all faithful and loyal SAPS members who have been with SAPS through all odds. She also urged the youth to join SAPS as the police force has lost 1003 members in the last financial year.
“We thank our members for remaining in this career despite the danger, negativity, salary issues and sometimes they would feel not appreciated for their work.
The cluster Commander, Major-General Mohajane, who was also part of the recipients of long service medals, took time to thank the Provincial Commissioner for gracing them with her presence to honour the loyal servicing police officers.
“I want to commend the Commissioner for recognizing the dedication and loyalty we have shown to the calling. I guarantee you that we will continue to work hard,”she said.
A total of 107 police men and women in blue were awarded with long service medals by the Commissioner. The SAPS was celebrating the hundred years of its existence and all members of the Tshwane North cluster received the centenary medals.
The commissioner commended the Tshwane North cluster SAPS as one of her best cluster in Gauteng for having hard working members.
She further assured the residents of Hammanskraal that they must have faith in the SAPS members as they are working hard to uproot the corrupt members.
