Elias Motete is a 14 year old boy who is having troubles with speaking and writing. He was born with this disease and his family do not have money to send him to a proper school. He is not attending school nor does he visit his friends. He has never been to school in his life, while his peers are getting ahead in life he is left behind.
His grandmother, Matlakala Monareng, says that she wishes that a good samaritan would come and help her grandchild because he is struggling.
At the age of 17, you are expected to do everything by yourself, but “Eli” as his grandmother calls him can’t do anything, he relies on his grandmother, mother and his younger siblings to help him.
They have to bath him, make sure he drinks his medication and feed him.
His grandmother said both his mother and her are not working making it hard to provide for him because there are four other kids to fend for.
“We have tried to send him to a special school with the money he receives from the government but it was not enough”, said Miss Monareng.
She continued to say that all that she wants is for his grandson to learn sign language so that he can be able to communicate because it becomes hard sometimes to tell what he wants to say.
“I am pleading to anyone who is willing to help and send my grandson to school to please come forward”, said Matlakala Monareng.
