A 45-year-old man was arrested Friday morning at around 07:30 at Babelegi Industrial in possession of copper cables.

Constable Herman Moremi of Corporate Communications SAPS TEMBA said SAPS members of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offence unit(FCS) received a tip-off about a group of people who are using an Isuzu white pick-up truck to steal copper cables at a factory behind the filling station.

“The SAPS members spotted the white Isuzu in bushes with a group of men behind and approached them.

“Four suspects who were at the back of the bakkie fled the scene after the SAPS members block the bakkie that was trying to speed off and the driver was arrested with copper cables behind the van,” said Constable Moremi.

The man will be facing charges of possession of copper cables and will appear at the Moretele magistrate court in due cause.

The station commander of Temba SAPS, Brigadier Martha Mokobori, applauded the members for the swift reaction in apprehending the suspect and applaud the community for giving information to the police.

She said this shows that together with the community criminal activities can be reduced.
