A 31 year old foreign national will appear in the Moretele magistrate court soon facing charges of contravention of COVID 19 regulations and possession of counterfeit cigarettes estimated to a value of R160,000.
The suspect was arrested last Wednesday in Temba by Tshwane District Crime Intelligence.
Constable Herman Moremi Of corporate communications SAPS Temba said Police received a tip-off about people who were loading boxes of illegal cigarettes inside a bakkie. They immediately stopped a 31-year-old man and searched his vehicle.
Constable Moremi said Tshwane District Crime Intelligence found several boxes containing illegal cigarettes inside the bakkie and the suspect was arrested for possession of counterfeit cigarettes, and contravention of Covid 19 regulations.
