Moretele mayor introduces ‘topa ke tope’ project to small business owners

Mr Andries Makinta Monaheng, Mayor of Moretele Municipality, held the first local business Imbizo meeting to introduce the Topa Ke Tope project to local small business owners on 19 August 2020 at the Moretele Community Hall.

The local business forum is hosted twice in a financial year, the mayor said the aim of the new forum was to equip and groom small business owners into becoming successful business people.

The small business owners were introduced into new mayoral small business empowerment plans.

The Mayor said last year the municipality worked with 12 contractors and that this year the aim is to add eight to make it 20 contractors to broaden the scope of job creation.

The ‘Topa ke Tope’ project is about sharing and diversifying the job creation pool and I hope the contractors will use this opportunity in a beneficial way to create opportunities including for the youth, this is another way of fighting unemployment in Moretele,” he said.

The Mayor said the second local business Imbizo meeting will be announced soon.
