Hammanskraal Tennis Club (HTC) players that were part of the 2020 Gauteng North Junior (GNJT) squad were rewarded with Gauteng North Junior Squad badges for the successful completion of the 2020 GNJT squad program.
The event took place on at the Gauteng North Junior Squad premises on Saturday 21 November 2020.
The players were invited on merit for ranking points whilst others were sponsored by Gauteng North Junior Squad.
Chairperson of the HTC, Mr Simon Tlhatlha, said, “through the GNJT squad, our players were able to participate in a number of Tennis South Africa (TSA) ranking tournaments hosted by GNJT and some of them performed exceptionally well and in the process accumulate ranking and rating points.
“We are hopeful that after a successful year, we will be able to retain and get more spots for our current and new and upcoming players.”
He said the HTC is very happy about these players’ performance despite the tough times we all went through of Covid 19.
“Our players put hard work to their game and that paid off,” he said.
Mr Tlhatlha urged the local business community to invest in Sports and assist the club to participate in the 2021 tennis programs.
The 11 players from HTC who were amongst the top junior players in Gauteng North, are Lwanele Zondi, (9) Tshireletso Mashaba, (9) Mogomotsi Sekgobela, (11) Tshepang Maisela, (12) Oratile Ngobeni. (12) Eric Matjiane, (14) Tshepang Tlhatlha, (14) Mpho Jantjies, (15) Mpho Phungwayo, (15) Ofentse Mphahlele, (15) and Tshepang Chaane (19).
