Four stolen motor vehicles were recovered on 03 December 2020 at a roadblock on the R101 between Hammanskraal and Temba. In a parallel intelligence-led operation, eight more motor vehicles were recovered while five liquor outlets were closed for non-compliance. Liquor worth more than R100 000 was confiscated and the owner arrested.
This after the ‘O kae Molao’ operations conducted by the intensified law enforcement team that embarked on an operation to search for illicit goods, ensure road safety and to ensure the safety of residents of Temba as the festive season dawns.
Furthermore, a suspect was arrested when the car he was driving was confirmed as recently stolen in Olievenhoutbosch. Four additional suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.
Gauteng Premier, Mr David Makhura, together with the MEC for community safety, Ms Faith Mazibuko, joined the integrated law enforcement agencies on the operation that took place under the command of Gauteng Commissioner of SAPS, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela
Commissioner Mawela commended the police force for working tirelessly during the festive season.
“All arrested suspects will appear in various Gauteng magistrate courts in due course, and people should always remember to comply with the law because, during the festive season, police will be making arrests to keep the streets clean”, he said.
