The City of Tshwane launched a multidisciplinary Anti-land Invasion Task Team to swiftly act in demolishing about 84 illegal structures in a period of two weeks in different areas in the municipality.
The community members and local councillors of Nellmapius Ext2 and Kudube alerted the teams that there were groups of people invading the land and illegally putting up structures.
With the information from the community, the city had to verify and sent the teams to demolish the illegal structures in both locations, some structures were not done, some were shacks and others were brick structures.
The commitment to stop land invasions is to protect property rights and maintain a zero-tolerance approach.
The City sent a warning to those who encourage land invasion or promote shack farming on illegally occupied land with the intention of selling them or renting them out that they will be arrested and structures will be demolished leading to loss of money.
Land invasion should be reported to the TMPD 24hr line on 012 358 7095/6.
