Two cases of Culpable homicide were reported yesterday at Babelegi industrial and Portion 9 R101 road where five people lost their lives.

Sergeant Herman Moremi of Corporate Communications SAPS Temba said the first incident happened at Babelegi industrial near Blue Ribbon bakery at 15:50 where a silver-grey BMW X1 hit an apolo light. Police found one person next to the vehicle and four still trapped inside the vehicle. Four people were certified dead on the scene, two women, one man, and a five-year-old child. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital.

It is alleged that the vehicle was chased by Metro police when it hits apolo light.

Another incident happened at R101 road Marokolong next to African Cave lodge when two ambulances attended the accident of a BMW at Babelegi at around 15:50.

It is alleged that an African male was trying to cross the road between those two ambulances when one ambulance hit him and died on the scene.

When police arrived at the scene they found community members assaulting the EMS personnel and immediately intervene. They managed to rescue the personnel from the angry crowd. The deceased was identified as a foreign national from Zimbabwe.

Police registered two cases of Culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving.

“Police are appealing to members of the community not to take the law into their hands, and must understand that accident is not planned and they must respect all emergency vehicles. “When they hear the siren they must know it is an emergency and give away to that particular vehicle,” Sergeant Moremi said.
