A daring ATM bombing incident occurred at Jubilee Mall in Hammanskraal on March 16, 2025, leaving a private security officer injured and causing significant damage to five ATMs.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack took place around 1:30 AM, with multiple explosions heard as the suspects carried out the bombing. The suspects, estimated to be over 30, fled the scene before police arrived.
The incident has raised concerns about the escalating crime rate in Hammanskraal, which has been dubbed the “new war zone” due to a surge in ATM heists and violent crime.

In an update, Jubilee Mall management confirmed that a robbery occurred on March 16, 2025, and the mall is temporarily closed until further notice. The safety and well-being of customers, tenants, and employees are their top priority.
The mall is working closely with law enforcement to investigate the incident and is taking immediate action to enhance security measures. Several tenants, including Metropolitan, Betfred, Nizams, FNB, Planet Fitness, and the Department of Labour, will remain temporarily closed until they are deemed safe to resume operations.
Police are analyzing CCTV footage and urging anyone with information to come forward. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the authorities.
