The Moretele Local Municipality is cheering on its U/12 and U/13 netball teams as they compete in the National Primary School Netball Tournament in Polokwane. The tournament is being held at Hoërskool Pietersburg from today, July 25, to tomorrow, July 26.
According to Mr. Abel Mothupi Malebye, the municipality’s communications manager, the teams from T.K. Mokonyane and Ramoshie Primary Schools arrived in Polokwane yesterday and are scheduled to begin competing at 09:00 this morning.
“The Mayor of Moretele Local Municipality, Hon. Cllr Masango George Manyike, extends his best wishes to our wonderful children,” Mr Malebye stated. “Moretele, Bojanala, and the entire Province are behind you. Go make history!”.
Earlier in the week, Mayor Manyike, along with Hon. Speaker Cllr Freda Mapela, Hon. Chief Whip Cllr Kaike Mleta, Hon. Exco members, and representatives from Moretele LEO, visited the schools to show their support and present gifts to the teams.
Several local organizations and individuals have also contributed to supporting the teams. Mr. George Gebuza, Mr. Solly Mahlo, Peu Global, and Chrisann Supermarket provided cash donations to cover accommodation and transportation costs. The Bahwaduba Traditional Council in Ratjiepane generously donated R4000 to support both netball teams.
Mr Malebye noted that the volunteer coach from Ramoshie Primary School expressed immense gratitude for the support, stating that the school nearly had to cancel the trip due to a lack of funds. Modere, the coach for T.K. Mokonyane’s netball team, said that her team is prepared for the competition.
This is the third year that Ramoshie Primary School has participated in the national tournament. It marks the first appearance for T.K. Mokonyane’s U/12 team. The Mayor plans to introduce the teams to Deputy President Paul Mashatile and his delegation next Friday in Mogogelo.
