The Temba community pays tribute to Dikeledi Rachel Bogopa, born on 27 October 1934 and passed away on 21 November 2025, at the age of 91. She is remembered as a woman of extraordinary determination, dignity, and faith.
Mama Bogopa’s early life was marked by hardship, yet she met every obstacle with courage and determination. She began her working life as a kitchen maid in the formerly white‑only suburbs of Pretoria. Despite the social barriers of the time, she remained resolute in her pursuit of a better future. Determined to rise above the limits imposed on her generation, she continued her education through correspondence until she achieved her Matric and later earned a Typist/Secretarial Diploma. This accomplishment became a turning point that shaped the rest of her life.
Her journey of self‑improvement opened the door to employment at Jubilee Mission Hospital, where her life took a positive and transformative turn. There, she worked diligently and used her position to improve the lives of her children. Guided by a deep sense of responsibility, she sought to give them a life of greater security, hope, and opportunity.
Beyond her professional life, Mama Bogopa was a respected member of the Temba community and a devoted participant in church activities, especially the Methodist Church choir. Her compassion extended to the poor and those in need, reflecting her deep-seated belief in the importance of service, kindness, and humility.
Her funeral, held on 29 November 2025, featured heartfelt tributes from family, neighbours, church groups, and community members who celebrated her lasting impact. She was laid to rest at the Temba cemetery, surrounded by loved ones who honoured her as a pillar of strength.
Mme Dikeledi Rachel Bogopa leaves behind a legacy defined by perseverance, faith, and love. She also left two of her children, Ms Molebogeng Malebye and Chappie Musi. Her life stands as an enduring example of resilience and the power of determination.
