Following weeks of heated talks between political parties, Tshwane Mayor, Mr Randall Williams, has announced the names of the members of the Tshwane Mayoral Committee.
Similar to the strategy taken in Johannesburg on 13 December 2021, the councilors from ActionSA and the Freedom Front Plus were included in the multi-party accord struck. Mayor Williams said the only way the coalition government would succeed was by putting aside their political differences.
He said, “This team has been chosen after careful consideration as we take these appointments very seriously. We will need to hit the ground running as there is much work that needs to be done. Furthermore, I’d like to assure our residents that I will hold the team to the highest standards as this administration is truly committed to the principles of clean governance.”
The newly appointed mayoral committee are Mr Peter Sutton, MMC for Finance (DA), Mr Abel Tau MMC for Human Settlements (ActionSA), Mr Grandi Theunissen (VF+) MMC for Community Safety, Ms Dikeledi Selowa, MMC for Roads and Transport (DA), Mr Andre le Roux, MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning (ActionSA)Rina Marx (VF+) MMC for Health, Mrs Peggy de Bruin, MMC for Social Development and Community Services (ActionSA), Mr Kingsley Wakelin’s MMC for Corporate and Shared Services (DA), Mr Phillip Nel, MMC for Utility Services (DA). Ms Dikeledi Selowa will be Acting MMC for Environment and Agriculture Management.
