The Moretele Local Municipality will host a men’s seminar, Monna Thuba Tidimalo, on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 9:00 am at the Municipal Hall in Mathibestad. The event aims to address critical issues affecting the community, with a focus on gender-based violence, substance abuse, and men’s health.
According to Mayor Cllr Masango George Manyike, the seminar will provide a platform for men to break their silence on issues like gender-based violence and substance abuse. The event will also include dialogue, counseling for abused men, and encourage men to take responsibility for their health and well-being.
The mayor expressed deep concern over the increasing number of gender-based violence cases in the society, citing two recent incidents in Ward 19 where two elderly women were allegedly raped and killed. “These barbaric acts cannot be tolerated anymore,” he said, calling on the community to work together to address the issue.
