Chelo Crowd Funding and Project Management Agency has launched a fundraising initiative to improve and renew the infrastructure of select schools in the Greater Hammanskraal region.

Known as Project 2050, this initiative stems from a shared commitment to ensuring that every child has access to a safe, dignified, and supportive learning environment by the year 2050.

Many schools in Greater Hammanskraal face significant infrastructure challenges. Ageing buildings, inadequate sanitation facilities, limited classroom space, and deteriorating learning environments directly impact teaching and learning outcomes. These conditions not only compromise the quality of education but also affect learners’ dignity, safety, and overall well-being.

By mobilising resources and engaging partners, this initiative seeks to address these pressing challenges through targeted interventions aimed at restoring, upgrading, and modernising school infrastructure. It is estimated that a minimum of R2 million will be required per school to address the maintenance backlog and improve the school environment.

The crowdfunding initiative will pursue the following objectives:

  • Renovation and upgrading of classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and recreational spaces.
  • Enhancement of sanitation facilities, water access, and safety measures to create healthier learning environments.
  • Provision of essential furniture, ICT equipment, and tools to support 21st-century teaching and learning.
  • Engagement of local communities, businesses, and stakeholders to ensure shared responsibility for sustaining school infrastructure improvements.

This collaboration will lead to:

  • Improved teaching and learning environments for thousands of learners.
  • Increased motivation, safety, and retention among students.
  • Strengthened community ownership of educational development.
  • Long-term socio-economic upliftment through sustained investment in education.

An initial donation of R100,000 is needed to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the first ten schools (five primary schools and five high schools) selected for the first phase of infrastructure development interventions. Chelo Project Management Agency will be deployed to these schools to develop a needs analysis matrix that guides donors and corporate partners in aligning their investments with specific school requirements.

Ways to contribute to this initiative include:

  • Direct donations through the Chelo crowdfunding platform.
  • Donations of building materials, furniture, ICT equipment, or professional services.
  • Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Partnerships with tailored projects that align with the company’s CSI strategies.
  • Collective contributions from individuals and groups to uplift their former schools.

To honour partners, Chelo Crowd Funding will provide:

  • Tax Rebate Certificates for donor companies.
  • Certificates of Appreciation for all contributors.
  • Media and social media recognition.
  • Branding opportunities on sponsored facilities (for major donors).
  • Annual Impact Reports detailing how contributions were utilised.

Chelo Crowd Funding invites corporate partners, philanthropic organisations, alumni, and individual donors to join on this transformative journey. Your contribution—whether financial, in-kind, or through expertise—will directly impact the lives of learners and educators in Hammanskraal. This initiative aims to build schools of dignity, hope, and excellence by 2050. For further information, please contact Chelo Crowd Funding and Project Management Agency at https://cheloapp.com/.
