The 2015 Mandela Remembrance Walk will take place on Saturday 12 December 2015 from 06:30 to 11:00.

The procession will begin at the corner of Skierpoort and Kgosi Mampuru Streets and go down Kgosi Mampuru Street, turning right at Madiba Street, then right at Nelson Mandela Drive, left at Stanza Bopape Street and then proceed to the Union Buildings.
Mayoral Spokesperson, Mr Blessing Manale said in a statement that in remembering and hounoring the legacy of our Former President Nelson Mandela, this this will be the second annual Mandela Remembrance Walk that takes place this in the City. The Nelson Mandela Heritage Route seeks to memorialize the route from 1 Military Hospital to the Union Buildings that was used for the funeral procession of Nelson Mandela from 11 to 13 December 2013. It also seeks to enable people to follow in his indelible footsteps across the city so as to share in the values of a deepening democracy and a socially cohesive community, which were inspired by him.
The Remembrance Walk would experience deliberate stoppages as key heritage sites, such as the Kgosi Mampuru Prison, Freedom Park, Lillian Ngoyi Square, and end at the Statue of Nelson Mandela at the Union Buildings. The Walk will culminate into a wreath laying ceremony led by Premier David Makhura, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, and struggle stalwarts from Madiba’s generation among others.
Parking is available at the Union Buildings and Pilditch Stadium for shuttling to the start of the walk.
Tshwane Metro Police officers will monitor the affected streets.
