Two day water shutdown for Temba and surrounding areas

Temba Water Purification Plant under construction

Residents of Temba and nearby areas are informed of a planned shutdown of the Temba Water Purification Plant from Thursday, 1 February 2018 at 08:00 until Friday, 2 February 2018 at 08:00 in order to carry out essential work at the plant.

This two-days shutdown is expected to affect the water supply to areas that are serviced by the plant. The City has arranged to supply residents with water through roaming tankers.

The work that will be carried out include bulk water connections/tie-ins, corrosion protection repairs on the bulk water supply system, welding repairs and removal of the temporary bypass water pipeline at the raw water pump station.The work will also include installation of fittings on the bulk water supply, connection of electricity cables to the new transformers and connection of new electricity cables to complete the ring main for the new plant.

Areas that will be affected are Dilopye, New Eersterus, Temba, Babelegi Industries, Marokolong, Ramotse, Majaneng, Mandela Village, Sekampaneng and Hammanskraal.

The City of Tshwane has apologized in a statement for any inconvenience that may arise as a result of the shutdown.
