The Thabang Matjeni Under 19 Soccer Tournament opened the games on 29 September 2018 with two fixtures. The first game was between Data Fc(Dan-house) v The Rock Fc(Stinkwater) where The Rock Fc hammered Data Fc by 3-0.
The second game was between Young Chiefs(Moretele) v The Bees( Lephengville) with the game ending 0-0 and the Bees winning 3-2 on Penalties.
One of the tournament rules is that no player will use Jersey Number 2 in this tournament as this Number is used by Thabang Matjeni at every team he plays.
“Because the tournament is to hournor him, we also retire his favorite number,” said coach Shadrack Mlambo.
Hammanskraal born football star,Aubrey Ngoma of Mamelodi Sundowns also attended the games on Saturday to give support and encouragement to the players.
