A 28 year-old man, Mr Hendrick Phehle, was sentenced to two life sentences and 140 years in prison by the Moretele Magistrate Court in Temba. He was facing seven counts of rape, seven counts of robbery and one count of attempted murder.
Sargent Herman Moremi of Temba SAPS Communications said the crimes date from 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017 around Kanana, Tambo Ville, Rockville, Unit 5 and Portion 9 in Hammanskraal.
Mr Phehle used a firearm to threaten the victims when commiting the crimes.
The detective, Sargeant Khosana, was able to trace the suspect and arrested him on 07 March 2018 when the suspect ws appearing for another matter at the Moretele Magistrate Court after linking Mr Phehle with all cases during the investigation.
The Station Commander of Temba SAPS, Brigadier Martha Mokobori, applauded the good work of the officers and dedication of the investigating officer who made sure that he removed the perpetrator on the streets and ensured that the victims got justice.
