On Wednesday, 3 June 2015, the acting Executive Mayor, Councillor Eulanda Mabusela, hosted women athletes from the City of Tshwane and also the women who came first and second in this year’s Comrades Marathon.

Caroline Wöstmann, who came first with a time of 6:12:22, and Charné Bosman, who came second with a time of 6:33:34, were joined by the ten members of the City of Tshwane Athletics Team who also took part in this year’s Comrades Marathon.
The acting Executive Mayor said that it was an honour to be able to congratulate these two athletes for their remarkable performance and their representation of Tshwane on not only a national but also an international platform. She thanked them for continuing to prove that Tshwane is indeed the city of champions.
Councillor Mabusela officially declared the two athletes to now be Tshwane ambassadors, and asked that they join hands with Tshwane in the fight against drug and substance abuse.
Both athletes thanked the acting Executive Mayor for the occasion and said that they were enthusiastic to work with the City of Tshwane, as they are proud Tshwane residents.
The acting Executive Mayor also congratulated the City of Tshwane Athletics Team for their participation and for completing the marathon. She humorously stated that they will hopefully do better next year and that they should ask Caroline and Charné for some tips on winning.
