Mandela Day is upon us and South Africans all over the country are putting their heads together to decide how they will spend their 67 minutes.

The idea behind this globally-celebrated day is for people to engage in social good by devoting their time to a community service activity. Joining millions of people across the globe in honour of Madiba, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) in partnership with the Fitness Body Infusion (FBI) Boot camp from Pretoria East will be spending their 67 minutes promoting good health and fitness to the community.

The first of its kind, the event will take place at the Waterkloof Air Force Base on Saturday the 25th of July. Members of the public are encouraged to be part of this event for free exercises and personal coaching. For 67 minutes, the teams from SANDF and FBI will lead the community in different exercises such as aerobics, relay runs, competitive exercises, fun walks and much more.

FBI founder, Mr Floyd Mashego, has been providing free aerobics classes in Arcadia since 2010. His boot camp exercises on the parliamentary lawns of Union Building every afternoon from Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. This time, the boot camp founder is using his skills to do his part in ensuring that Madiba’s legacy lives on. “67 minutes it’s not enough to thank Madiba for all he has done for the country, let’s do our best and make sure that we go out in numbers to support this initiative,” says Mr Mashego.

People interested in joining the SANDF and FBI for “67 Minutes of Fitness” can engage with Mr Mashego on social media by searching for “Fitness Body Infusion” on Facebook.
