
Minister in the Presidency for Planning Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Jeff Radebe signed the National Youth Policy 2020 (NYP2020) on Wednesday 12 August 2015. The NYP 2020 is a set of goals and commitments by government in advancing youth development. The policy which was extensively consulted was adopted by the executive cabinet was signed at a ceremony in Cape Town to mark International Youth Day. The International Youth Day was celebrated by the United Nations under the theme, “Youth Civic Engagement”. The National Youth Policy was consulted with young people who engaged with government on their needs interests and aspirations. It is also in recognition of the similar opportunities and challenges faced by the youth around the world that the National Youth Policy is signed on this significant day. Minister Radebe handed over the signed policy to Deputy Minister Buti Manamela who has the responsibility of oversight and mainstreaming of youth development.
