busesThis morning, October 1 2015, the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) affiliated bus drivers abandoned their shift. Their action has resulted in the interruption of bus services to the Tshwane commuters.

Media Relations Director at the City of Tshwane, Mr Lindela Mashego said It is anticipated that various bus routes will be severely affected by the ongoing disruption, therefore commuters are advised to make alternative transport arrangements.
The strike action comes after a decision was taken by the City that the drivers should continue carrying the money bags and sell cash tickets in the buses whilst an alternative system of fare collection is being investigated.
The management of the City encourages all other drivers of the Tshwane Bus Services to maintain the upright behaviour and continue to value the service that is rendered to our commuters.
Mr Mashego said the City apologised for any inconvenience that may be caused to and assure commuters them that the full service will be restored as soon as the matter is resolved.
