Residents of Tshwane have been requested to use water sparingly due to temporary city-wide water restrictions.
This follows sporadic water interruptions that the City is experiencing due to the extreme hot weather conditions. The heat wave has seen the water demand constantly increasing thus resulting in reservoirs across the City operating at a very low water level. This has also slowed down the pace at which water builds up in the reservoirs as some high lying areas are experiencing low water pressure already. The schedule of the restrictions cannot be determined as they are dependent on the water levels at the reservoirs. Spot fines will be if the water restrictions are transgressed. As part of the restrictions, residents are urged not to water their gardens during the day until the situation normalises. The temporary city-wide water restrictions are being implemented in terms of Clause 19 of the Water Supply By-Laws, as published in the Gauteng Provincial Gazette, dated 23 July 2014, Notice 468, with immediate effect, until further notice.
