South Africa is gearing up for its fourth democratic municipal elections which are expected to take place later this year.
This is another opportunity for South African voters to determine the future of their municipalities. All residents aged 18 and older are encouraged to register to vote in the 2016 local government elections so that they can participate and have a say in how the city is managed.
The municipal electoral offices are now open for voters to register, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.
Residents can visit the registration offices to:
• register as a first-time voter;
• check if you are on the voters’ roll; and
• change your registration if you have moved since the last elections.
The following are a requirement to register to vote:
• Be a South African citizen;
• Be 18 years and older; and
• Have a green bar-coded ID book/smart ID card.

MEO OFFICE: HB Phillips Building, 320 Bosman Street, Pretoria
Atteridgeville: Atteridgeville Municipal Office, corner Komane and Mngadi Street
Centurion: Centurion Municipal Office, Clifton Avenue
Kungwini: Corner Mark and Botha Street, Bronkhorstspruit
Mabopane, Winterveld, Ga-Rankuwa: Shop SCUB, Morula Shopping Complex, Mabopane
Mamelodi: Mini Munitoria Building, corner Makhubela and Letwaba Street, Mamelodi West
Nokeng tsa Taemane: Corner Oakley and Montrose Street, Rayton
Soshanguve: Nafcoc MLDC Building, 2164 Block F, Soshanguve Highway
Temba: Temba Urban Council, 4424 Unit 1, Temba
Tshwane East: Pretorius Park Bus Depot, 927 Bugle Street
Tshwane Central: HB Phillips Building, 320 Bosman Street, Pretoria
To check the correct registration details:
• Visit www.elections.org.za.
• Send an SMS with your ID number to 32810 (R1,00 per SMS).
• Download the IEC mobile app and enter your ID number.
• Check your registration details online.
• Check at your voting station during a registration weekend.
• Check at your local municipal or IEC office during office hours.
