Oldest person in the world buried in Hammanskraal yesterday

The oldest person in the world, Mr Johhana Rametse, who died at 134 years old, was buried yesterday Saturday 10 June 2017 in Stinkwater, Hammanskraal near Temba.

Ms Rametse was recorded as the oldest person in the world at the age of 134 years by the Guinness World Record.

Ms Rametse was also one of the brave women who marched to the Union Buildings in August 1956 against the carrying of the hated ‘dompass’.

A friend to the late Ms Rametse, Ms Rosiah Makgong, who took care of Ms Rametse in her last days said “She was a friend, a grandmother, a great grandmother and everything to me.

“My love for her is unquestionable, i loved her so much and I am deeply saddened by her passing away,” she said.

The funeral was honored by the MEC of Social development in Gauteng Nandi Mayethula-Khoza, who said “we are saddened by the passing of Ms Ramatse but joyful at the same time that Ms Rametse lived a very long life and she lived it to the fullest.”

Prophet Paseka Mboro, who helped with the funeral arrangements and bought the R100 000 coffin for Ms Rametse, said “I have helped a lot of people but this was the greatest to help the oldest person in the world.

He said Ms Rametse lived the longest life and her secret was ‘respect’, “”she respected every person and for that she lived longer,” said Prophet Mboro.
