Police have arrested a suspect accused of murdering his girlfriend in his Polokwane home and running away. The suspect was arrested today in Moeka Zone 5 after members of the community identified him from a newspaper picture.
Members of the community in Zone 5 in Moeka informed the police about the suspect who was hiding in their village and already running a business there. This after they saw his picture in a daily newspaper.
The suspect allegedly stabbed and killed his girlfriend and run away. During his arrest, he told the police that he killed his girlfriend because she was cheating on him and he stabbed her with a knife several times on the upper body.
Constable Herman Moremi of Temba Police said the suspect is kept at Temba Police Station and will be transferred back to his province where he will stand trial.
He said the police thanked members of the community for assisting to fight crime and also for not taking the law into their hands.
