Champions of Champions games kicked off at Temba Stadium

The Champion of Champions Hammanskraal soccer tournament kicked of this past weekend at Temba Stadium.

The first game was a walk over win by Temba FC because Winchester FC did not turn up for the game.

Tournament organizers, Mr Titus Shakwane and Mr Shadrack Modube display the trophy to be won on 30 December 2017 Champion of Champions

The second and third games were played on Sunday 03 December 2017 also at Temba Stadium. Obet FC knocked out German Machine with a goal thriller game that ended with a 3-1 score. Game three saw Darkies knocking out All Nations FC with a walkover rule and game four saw TFC beat Cosmos 3-1 to move to the next stage of the tournament.

There were developing news as Saki United was disqualified for not meeting the requirements of the tournament and were replaced with the runners up of Drug awareness tournament, Eersterus Downs.

This changes will see a replay this coming Friday of a final between Fairfield and Downs where Downs were beaten by Fairfield.

The tournament meant to celebrate local football teams that have won various soccer tournaments during the year around Hammanskraal was launched at a gala dinner on Thursday 30 November 2017 held at Mandela hall.

Speaking at the gala dinner Mr Titus Shakwane, Chairperson of Champion of champions said he had a vision to organize such a soccer tournament were they would bring all champions of tournaments that were won during the year and Hammanskraal league champions to play for one prize.

The tournament will comprise of evening (18:00 to 22:00pm) games mostly to avoid the clash with the ABC Motsepe league games that play at the Temba stadium in the afternoon. The first game will be at 18:00pm and second games shall play at 20:00pm. 16 teams are expected to play in the knock out stages.

The games are bringing a new culture to Hammanskraal which is welcomed by sports lovers

Prizes for the tournament are as follows, 1st prize: R15 000, Trophy, a new soccer kit and Gold medals, 2nd prize: R3 000 and Silver medals and  3rd prize: R1 000. Individual awards will be a Golden Boot, Young Player of the Tournament, Player’s Player of the Tournament, Player of the Tournament, Golden Glove and a New Playing Kit.
