The Makapanstad members of the Police Service, Provincial Traffic Department, Department of Health, and Moretele Local Municipality gathered at the Makapanstad Police Station to create awareness around the COVID 19 pandemic.
The gathering was addressed by Mayor Andries Makinta Monageng who emphasized the issue of compliance to the COVID 19 protocols.
He urged the community to wear a mask at all times, practice social distancing at crowded places, stay home and only go out when it is necessary.
After the Mayor’s address, the teams embarked on a roadshow starting at Danhouse and surrounding areas distributing pamphlets and setting up roadblocks to check for compliance and create awareness.
The health officials visited businesses to check for tidiness and compliance of social distancing and sanitization.
“The COVID 19 pandemic is a big task to manage and it is difficult to get the community to comply with the protocols, that is why we are heightening the awareness campaign around the regulations,” said Mayor Monageng.
