The Hammanskraal journalist, Mr Reshoketswe “Shoki” Mlangeni, who was reported missing on 01 July 2020, has been found dead on Tuesday 21 July 2020 at a government mortuary in Ga-Rankuwa after a search by family and friends.

A close friend and fellow journalists, Ms Tebatso Mogaladi, said according to the police autopsy, the 26-year-old Mlangeni, originally from Limpopo, was hit by a car, but the family believed there might be a mistake in the police report because of the bruises on his body that raised suspicions that he might have been attacked.

“He was found by an EMS who then thought he was hit by a car as he sustained fatal head injuries, “however, when the family went to identify the body, they discovered bruises on his body that confirmed the suspicions that he might have been brutally attacked.

She said the family will conduct their own private post-mortem because the neighbor who was last seen with Mr Mlangeni, allegedly told different stories to the police and to the family.

“The family is also considering pressing suspicious murder charges against the friend who was last seen with him because he left with him but upon his return alone, he never reported that Mr Mlangeni is missing to anyone.

Mr Mlangeni was last seen with the neighbor in Temba Unit 7 on 30 June 2020 before they left for Mandela Section and Mr Mlangeni never returned.
