Residents in several northern areas of Tshwane are being urged to prepare for water supply interruptions this weekend due to planned maintenance at the Temba Water Treatment Plant.
The City of Tshwane announced that the power supply to the plant will be shut down on Saturday, 11 July, from 06:00 to 18:00, a full 12 hours, to allow for critical transformer maintenance. As the plant relies on electricity to pump water, operations will be fully suspended during this period, resulting in water supply disruptions to affected communities.
Areas expected to experience interruptions include Sekampaneng, Renstown, Hammanskraal West, Units 5 and 7, Unit D, Kanana, Leboneng, Rockville and Chris Hani.
The City said the shutdown is unavoidable but necessary to safeguard the long-term reliability of water infrastructure. “The City remains committed to providing reliable water services and appreciates the cooperation and understanding of customers while this essential work is carried out,” the City said in the statement.
